How to create a project on grovia

February 2026 Update: We've enhanced the platform with two key capabilities: managing multiple projects per property and running project lifecycle phases (such as Assess, Design, and Plan) simultaneously. The user flow below reflects these recent improvements.

grovia is built around a property-centric model where users manage their properties and can create multiple projects (including EP and other carbon methods) for each property.

The platform guides each project through its complete lifecycle using phase-specific modules, each equipped with tailored tools designed to support that particular stage of development.

    • Design

Getting started is straightforward: first create a property, then create a project within that property. You will have instant access to the land assessment for that project, including other tools to design and plan your project.

Step 1 : Create Property

The first step to get started on grovia is to create a property. Simply draw the property boundary on the map or upload a geospatial file to define the area.

  • Property Boundary: The Property Boundary indicates the entire parcel of land that you own, lease or have a legal right to undertake a carbon project on.

Step 2: Create Project

You can create multiple (Environmental Planting) projects within a property. Simply define the project area by drawing its outline on the map or uploading a geospatial file.

  • Project Area: The area on your property within which your carbon project will operate.
  • Exclusion Zones: Areas of land within the Project Area that do not contribute to the abatement of a carbon project, including but not limited to buildings, rocky outcrops, or any other areas you wish to exclude from your project. NB The assessment results will automatically exclude roads and areas of existing woody cover.

Once you submit your project, it will automatically run the Lite Land Assessment, accessible through the Assess module. It helps evaluates your property or project area for feasibility and viability, highlighting implementation risks (e.g., slope) and regulatory constraints (e.g., tenure).

How to draw an outline on the map

  • To outline your property boundary, project area and exclusion zones, you may use the polygon drawing tool on the map. Once you click the drawing tool icon, you can click on the map to indicate the first point of the area you are drawing. You can complete the shape by clicking back on the first point.

  • Alternatively, you can use the search functionality on the map to search an address.

  • You can also use the upload button to upload a geospatial file. Once you have uploaded a file, you will see the filename indicated next to the button.
  • For the project area, you can use the same area you’ve used for the property boundary. Simply click the ‘use property boundary’ button.

  • Exclusion areas can be drawn using the same method as described above. If exclusion zones do not apply to your project area, you can skip this step.
